Satellite Help Tim Mostad Once you know you have the right satellite, the trick is to rescan it. For most of these kinds of receivers, there is a bunch of ways to scan with some being quicker than others. If all else fails they should do a “blind scan” (on some receivers like Pansat its called “smart scan”). It will take a few minutes but is pretty much guaranteed to find anything that is up there. Fom Grisly Fan, Fall 2008 Go to http://www.Lyngsat.com to verify that that there are a few free-to-air channels on AMC 15 but they belong to Bob Jones University and won't necessarily have anything on them at any given moment. There is also supposed to be a test channel running and sometimes that means color bars or other info screen will be showing but then again maybe not. I have not had a chance to try this myself yet. It would sure be nice if they chose a satellite with an always active free-to-air signal so we could be sure we are at least pointing at the right bird. Of course posting the full coordinates INCLUDING POLARITY would be nice. too. I checked on Lyngsat for AMC-18 which is the same place in the sky as AMC-15 and if you have a C band LNB (as well as the Ku band LNB that you wil need to get the Griz game) you can look for several FTA audio channels to be sure your dish is pointed correctly. Then switch back to the Ku LNB and set your receiver to the proper frequency, polarity, and frame rate. You should be good to go on game day. |
